副 以前 Many years ago，there was a fairy in the forest.许多年以前，森林里住着一位仙女。
●ago 是副词，常用一段时间加ago表示“从现在算起的一段时间以前”。如：The man was killed nine hours ago.此人是九个小时以前遇害的。before 常作介词，也表示“以前”，多用before加时间点表示“该时间点以前”。如：The mail arrived before nine o'clock.邮件是九点以前到的。before也可以作副词，常用一段时间加before表示“从过去某个时间点算起的一段时间之前”。如：Now Mr Baker was busy in his office，but nine hours before he was in New York.此刻，贝克先生在办公室里忙碌着，但九个小时以前他还在纽约呢。与before相对的是 after。
