Marvelous Insect Kingdom——The Great Yarlung Zangbo Canyon

Abstract

The Great Yarlung Zangbo Canyon is the deepest and longest canyon in the world.It is located in the cornerof down-stream of the Yarlung Zangbo River in the southeast of Tibet，China，where the Yarlung Zangbo Rivermakes a peculiar U- turn between the crack of Namjagbarwa Mountains and Gyalha Bairi Mountains.The wholelength of the Canyon is 504.6 kilometers，and the extremum depth is 6009 meters.So it is the case that TheGreat Yarlung Zangbo Canyon is the greast canyon in the world.

In the late Mesozoic，the Great Yarlung Zangbo Canyon was created by the collision of Indian Plate and Eur-asia Plate，together with the formation of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau，Hengduan Mountains，the Himalayas andthe Yarlung Zangbo River.Not only does it include the old species from Gondwanaland ......     （共7009字）    [阅读本文]>>
